Eat what you want when you want

But make sure that you eat it slowly and enjoy it. That doesn't sound like such a big deal, or very hard. But you might be in the habit of eating quickly, or of not waiting to see if you are full before eating more or having a dessert. It has also been ingrained in many of us from an early age that you have to eat everything that's on your plate - even if someone else put it there.

Your mind will tell you when you've had enough but you'll need to listen for the message. It can take up to half an hour for your brain to receive the message that you have had enough and that you are full. If you eat slowly and stop eating when you think you are full, you have a better chance of understanding your body's signs.
