When we put time pressures on ourselves we are likely to become more tense and our game suffers. The first thing to do is to be aware of when you feel such pressure. As soon as you notice yourself rushing or feeling rushed, whether you're walking up a fairway, standing on a tee or hitting out of a swamp with your friends looking on, carry out the following routine. Close your eyes, take two or three deep breaths and notice two things - all your muscles relaxing and your body and mind slowing down. It is possible to slow time down internally. We've all done it. Remember when you were a child and summer days seemed to last forever. Recapture that feeling and notice your game improve beyond all recognition.
